Civil construction falls under civil engineering which in itself covers a large range of disciplines in both the public and private sector. Civil engineering is a discipline that has been around since the invention of the wheel. Roman aqueducts are a prime example of ancient civil engineering and construction at its finest. Civil engineers design and then contract civil construction companies to build important core infrastructures which actively support public health and safety as well as economic growth and development. Infrastructures such as bridges, light rail transit lines, highways, roads, pipelines, sewers, subway tunnels, telecommunications and water treatment systems all fall under civil construction.
